History and Background

Kgalagadi Resources Development Company (Pty) Limited is the oldest Private company dedicated to natural resources development in Botswana incorporated in March 1976. The company pioneered the commercial introduction of Solar Water heating and Photovoltaics to the Southern African Market. And caused its adoption for large scale implementation into Botswana Long Term Vision 2016. The company has grown from a small human resources base in 1976 to a well-established company with a comprehensive administration, and technical staff complement of 82. The company today remains the largest dedicated manufacturer for Solar Water Heaters in Southern Africa. The company is 100% citizen owned, maintains healthy characteristics of an adaptable innovative entrepreneurial entity, with shareholders committed to the long-term consolidation of the competitiveness of this Botswana industry in extended world markets.

Product and Service Capability

The company manufactures the fastest selling Solar Water Heater in Southern Africa, the SP200 and SP300 litre domestic Solar Water heating systems. Our Solar Collector Panels are certified and registered with US, FSEC for export into US Market.

Technical Capability

Solar Power operates an efficient well-managed factory. The factory is flexible with a wide range of equipment including, 550 Tonne Deep Draw Hydraulic Press, with full compliment of production plants and machinery for production of Solar collector Panels & storage system.

Human Resources

The company maintains a stable workforce with Mechanical Engineering, Chartered Accountant, Financial Manager, Civil Engineer/Project Manager, Production Manager, Technical Factory Supervisors and Electricians. The workforce is dedicated and specialised.

In line with our long term vision the company has been involved in R&D work ever since its inception. Primarily, our R & D focused on alternative energy harnessing appliances resulting in improving current technologies and process of manufacturing and hold five (5) registered patents in Solar Water Heating technology and mineral resources reclamation.

Current Major Project in Hand Of International Investors Interest:

In joint collaboration with Government of Botswana we are working on the following Major Projects:

200MW Solar Thermal Power Generation in Botswana - and -
Multinutrient Fertilizer Manufacturing from mineral resources waste reclamation.

Both of these projects are in feasibility stage. And we invite cooperation from world class companies to join us on these major projects.
